“There is no temptation that tempts you but such as is common to man.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
There is a tendency in the human heart to think that what we are passing through is utterly unique to ourselves. After all, who can possibly understand the burdens we bear and problems we experience? Such thoughts are part of the devil’s tactics to isolate us and make us feel alone; and when Satan has us on our own (like Eve in the garden), then we are far, far more vulnerable to his lies. However, the Word of God is very clear that this is not the case. Our temptations are not unique. This gives us hope because if others have faced overwhelming odds and have overcome them, then we can also. Falling into temptation does not need to be inevitable. Part of the way toward victory over temptation is to recognize that our individual situations are not the exception; they are common to the human race for which Christ died and shed His blood so that all may know deliverance from every kind of temptation.
PRAYER :- “Lord, help me to resist every suggestion that my problems are unique and therefore outside Your capacity to handle them.”
